The Perception v The Reality

The reality is never as bad as you think it’s going to be

Think about all the things that we worry about or get nervous about or even not look forward to doing.

  • A meeting with clients or senior managers
  • A presentation to the board
  • A review with our boss
  • A proposal that will win business
  • A project that we keep putting off

They all play on our minds.

But think back to the last time you were in a similar situation. Was the reality really as bad as the perception that you had of the event in the first place? Very often the answer is no.

So learn to remember and think this through next time you are not looking forward to an event.
