Managing The Different Generations : Gen Y

In this fourth video of a five part series, we delve into the intricacies of managing Generation Y.

Recognising the unique characteristics and preferences of different generations is essential for effective management.

But how do we know who is in what generation? For Generation Y, commonly known as Millennials, understanding their distinctive traits becomes particularly important.

As a manager, it’s crucial to be aware of your team’s ages or have the means to obtain this information. Only then can you match their ages with the corresponding generational categories such as Baby Boomer, Generation X, Y, or Z to recognise their preferred management styles..

While this structure is not a ‘one size fits all’ approach, it does serve as a starting point. Additional management techniques are necessary to get the very best from your employees, however, it’s a great place to start understanding and connecting with your team on a human level.

Naturally, if you would like some help please get in touch.

Enjoy, David.
